Our Solution - Totum System of Environmental Rating

In order to meet the demand of investors (Asset Management) and areas of credit analysis (cells in socio environmental risk analysis), Totum Institute has created the Social Environmental Rating.

  The Social Environmental Rating objectively assesses the dimensions of Governance, Environment and Corporate Social Policies of the target companies. The final result is a code letter indicating the current status of sustainability management in the organization. Based on this code letter, investors and analysts can draw conclusions about the viability of investment or credit risk.

• Corporative Governance: the following requirements are assessed: Policies, Transparence, Formal Structure and Prevention of Corruption.


• Environmental: the following requirements are assessed: Policies, Transparence, Management System, Climate change and são avaliadas as práticas e resultados nos aspectos Política, Transparência, Sistema de Gestão, Eco-efficiency


• Social: the following requirements are assessed: Policies, Internal Focus and External Focus.

Each dimension has the same weight on the Global Rating. Each dimension has aspects of evaluation as above, and each aspect has a number of questions with specific weights.

The analysis of the sustainability of the organization can be made according to some scopes:

• Scope 1: analysis based on public information
• Scope 2: analysis based on public information and questionnaire answered by the assessed organization
• Scope 3: analysis based on public information, questionnaire answered by the assessed organization and diligence visit to confirm the information

Each scope adds more confidence in the result, given that the assessment part of public information without checking the veracity (Scope 1) to visit the organization to confirm the information (Scope 3).

In the end, Totum Institute generates a report containing:

• "Rating" social and environmental of the organization
• "Rating" of each dimension (Governance, Environment and Social)
• List of the strengths and weaknesses in the sustainability management system of the organization
• Conclusion if it would be necessary to gain more confidence according to the evaluation of the company.
